Native Meadow Maker - Overseeding Mix

A mixture of common UK native annual and perennial species, formulated for the purpose of increasing wildflower species in exiting grasslands.

Product Options:

Description carrat-down

This mixture is designed to give the best chance of establishing wildflowers into any existing sward. The existing grassed area should be mown down to 10- 20mm and then heavily scarified to reveal bare areas of soil and to check the existing grass growth, the best time of year being mid-March to mid-April.

Seed should be broadcast on the surface and then rolled in or sown into the surface with a customer seed drill if available. The sward should subsequently be managed as a native wildflower meadow. If sufficient wildflower species don’t establish after a season of management then a repeat sowing may be required the following spring.

Maintenance

1st cut in mid-September - 1st October and collect the arisings

Cutting height 70 -100 mm

Cut down to 70 -100 mm from early September. Remove arisings. If practical consider leaving up to one fifth of the area uncut, the remaining dead stalks will provide a nesting and hibernation site and egg laying habitat for invertebrates over the winter. Alternate this area each winter.

If possible, and with the obvious exception of areas you are leaving uncut, lightly mow the sward down to 70 -100 mm as required throughout the winter months until March and collect the clippings.
