This mixture provides a wide range of species and suits a variety of soil types and localities. It can be incorporated into the amenity mixtures such as A4 Low Maintenance/Conservation Areas, A18 Motorways/Road Verges and A16 Reclamation/Country Parks (combined 80% grass to 20% Wild Flora) to meet a particular amenity use. Because this mixture doesn't contain any grass, establishment can be slower and bare areas of soil are left for longer while the wildflower plants estabilsh, it is therefore crucial that the seed bed is clean of weed species otherwise they can quickly outcompete the emerging wildflower plants.

Sowing Rate 1g/m2
Sowing Time March - October
Sowing Depth 10mm
Sowing Instructions Create a fine friable seedbed down to 150mm in depth. Carry out two equal sowings at right angles to each other and diagonally to main axis. Broadcast manually or use seed drill, rake level and roll. Ensure good seed to soil contact.
Autumn or Spring Sown (First year)
March - July Cut to 70mm to encourage tillering of new plants, repeat as desired to thicken up the sward. regular topping back will encourage vegetative growth of the perennial species but will stop the sward from flowering. Once mowing or strimming ceases the plants will grow to the point of flowering. If flowering is required in the first year then one or two strims early on will suffice, alternatively a strategy of mowing throughout the first year will produce tight sward that will be more resistant to encroachment by weed species in future years. In All cases remove clippings
August/September Cut to 70mm after flowering. In all cases remove clippings.
Maintenance thereafter
April Cut to 70mm
August/September Cut to 70mm after flowering. in all cases remove clippings.
